Christoph Maierhofer (AUT) wins the men’s finals
Surprise at women’s finals: Carlee Baker (CAN) makes it


Under perfect conditions the25 year old Christoph Maierhofer from Austria wins the BOARDERCROSS® in Méribelbefore Drew Neilson from Canada who already was on the second place at yesterday’s time trials. Third place goes to Nicolas Conte, France. His twinbrother Philippe did not make it to the finals although he ran first place at the time trials.

Spectaculous jumps and speedfull races were also shown by the women. Above all from Carlee Baker (CAN) who surprisingly won after a sensational final run. Second place was Doris Krings from Austria. She already proved to be a very good rider at the seasonal opening in Sölden last month when she won the bronze medal. Tanja Detaomas from Italymade it to place three.

After the Europe premiere of BOARDERCROSS® in Les Deux Alpes five years ago today the first BOARDERCROSS® was held in France since then.Méribel, located in the world’s biggest skiing area Les Trois Vallées, offered perfect snow conditions for the BOARDERCROSS® course. Despite all weather forecasts, the competition could be held under good weather.

The next tourstop of the Swatch BOARDERCROSS® World Tour 1999/2000 will be in Aspen, Colorado, before the Germany premiere will take place on the Zugspitze in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in February.
